We'll conduct the session in a place your dog knows and feels comfortable, ideally their own home. Before our first meeting, I'll send you a questionnaire with general questions about your dog.
The initial session typically lasts 1-2 hours. We'll start with detailed questions about your dog's health and behavior. Then, I'll begin working with your dog and guide you on how to participate.
I'll leave samples of up to 4 key remedies for you to continue the process until our next session. For comprehensive support, I recommend booking 3 sessions fairly close together. This allows your dog to benefit from a variety of remedies tailored to their specific needs.
No, Applied Zoopharmacognosy (AZ) does not replace veterinary care.
As a practitioner of AZ, I never diagnose animals. The remedies animals choose can give some clues about their physical, behavioural, or emotional issues, which might be helpful for a vet. However, AZ does not take the place of professional veterinary care. Since many remedies have multiple uses, it's impossible to know exactly why an animal chooses a particular one.
Animals have the ability to recognize the plants that their species evolved with. If a plant is not part of their evolutionary history, they can't recognize it as dangerous. Consequently, ornamental house plants are often the cause of dog poisoning.
Artificial poisons e.g. rat poison, are designed to be appealing and mask the poison, making it hard for animals to recognise the danger.
If animals are allowed to choose their remedies from plants within their evolutionary history and control their dosage, they will not suffer from poisoning or overdose.
The remedies we use are not food; they are medicine. Your dog will only take as much as they need to reach their required dose. At first, they might need several remedies, but over time, the number of remedies and the amount needed will decrease as they start to feel better.
When a dog needs a remedy, it will smell and taste appealing. When they have reached their dose, the internal messages will change and the taste or smell will no longer be attractive.
